Role: producer, Curator
In a world inundated with headlines about environmental disasters, “(Dis)integrare Prospettive” questions superficial solutions like green capitalism and new energy technologies. It pushes viewers to consider deeper, more radical changes that go beyond the surface and address the underlying structures of power and knowledge. The exhibition invites us to rethink the future by looking to ancestral wisdom, drawing inspiration from indigenous leaders like Ailton Krenak, who encourages us to envision a future rooted in an appreciation for the interconnectedness of all life.
The exhibition “(Dis)integrare Prospettive” brings together the visual narratives of three photography collectives—Farpa (Brazil), Fotomovimiento (Spain), and Ollo Photo (Spain)—to spark a dialogue about the profound connection between climate change and colonialism. The exhibition challenges dominant Western perceptions, questioning how global knowledge systems often marginalize indigenous and traditional ways of understanding the world, particularly when it comes to addressing environmental crises.
At the core of this project is a reflection on the limits imposed by epistemological colonialism—the assumption that Western science holds the sole solutions to global issues like climate change, while alternative knowledge systems, often from indigenous or marginalized communities, are ignored. By presenting the works of photographers from different cultural backgrounds, the exhibition broadens the conversation to include voices historically excluded from the mainstream narrative.
“(Dis)integrare Prospettive” seeks to answer a vital question: How can we address the climate crisis in a way that is just and inclusive, particularly for communities that bear the brunt of its impact yet contribute the least to its causes?
“(Dis)integrare Prospettive” was first exhibited from 29 September to 30 October 2024 at Castel Rio, a historic venue in Bologna, Italy. The exhibition was produced in collaboration with Irene Sorrentino and the Greenwhale Collective, bringing together the works of Farpa, Fotomovimiento, and Ollo Photo.
