"Scavengers of Hope" is a photo reportage meticulously crafted to capture the pivotal role of social cooperatives in Campinas, Brazil, underscoring their importance in ensuring the sustainability of the city's recycling industry. Endorsed by the Virada Sustentável Institute, this work sheds light on the often-overlooked efforts of these cooperatives.
As both the photographer and executive producer of the project, Tomás Cajueiro spearheaded its creation, aiming to highlight the resilience and determination of those involved in the recycling process. Selected for the Virada Sustentável 2019 grant, the project was subsequently featured as an exposition during the event, offering viewers a poignant glimpse into the lives and endeavors of these unsung heroes.
