Role: executive producer
“Think of Tuvalu” is an artistic project by Brazilian visual artist Genivaldo Amorim, produced by Tomás Cajueiro, developed in dialogue with the Pacific island nation of Tuvalu — one of the countries most threatened by rising sea levels and the impacts of climate change. Created after a one-month artistic residency in Tuvalu in June 2025, the project combines photography, video, visual archives, testimonies, and public conversations to reflect on questions of territory, memory, disappearance, spirituality, geopolitics, and environmental collapse. Through an immersive and sensitive approach, the project investigates how art can operate as a form of witness in the face of contemporary ecological urgencies.
The project unfolded through exhibitions at the Pinacoteca de São Bernardo do Campo and the Museu da Cidade – Casa de Vidro, alongside a series of artist talks, workshops, and public programs designed to foster dialogue around climate change, environmental vulnerability, and the role of art in contemporary society. More than documenting a territory at risk, “Think of Tuvalu” seeks to create spaces for collective reflection and exchange. Through images, audiovisual materials, and immersive narratives produced during the residency, the project invites audiences to engage with the human, cultural, and symbolic dimensions of the climate crisis, while questioning the role of artistic practice in times of global uncertainty.
The project was supported by the CULT SP–PNAB Program for the Production of Unpublished Visual Arts Exhibitions, funded by the Government of the State of São Paulo and the Brazilian Federal Government.
